Facebook Prepares Another New Design (Screenshots)
Facebook is preparing more refinements of its home page. A reader of French tech blog PCinpact.com stumbled onto the test pages. We've reached out to Facebook to verify the screenshots and will update with their response.
Assuming these shots are legitimate, Facebook is unifying the top toolbar and making search a more prominent feature. There will be drop down menus to access Chat, Messages, and Notifications left of the search bar and access to Account, Profile, and Friends on the right.
Photos pages now exhibits more albums in a grid layout at once. A new Photo Uploader -- one of Facebook's most popular features -- is also in the wings. (Facebook stores about 15 billion photos and users add about 850 million new photos a month.)
Facebook has given no timeline for when the redesign will roll out for users.

Is this really going to happen? How exciting!

I've had this user interface for about three weeks now. Depends which workstation I'm using, but on my primary PC I'm using Windows 7 and Facebook 3.5.5 and evrytime I log in I get this GUI. I don't get it on the MAC or XP.
The interface is not as intuative as the older version and some actions like friends lists are buried quite far in. Chat seems to be flakey and doesnt always connect and usually times out. Firefox add-ons for Facebook, like FaceMod - Facebook Dislike Button (the first and original) do not work with the new GUI but do with the old. So expect that there is some alternative scripting in the java environment.
To be brutally honest.... the older interface is better, easier to use. Perhaps Facebook could actually start asking user groups what it is they, as user, actually want in an environment and application...

I like it, but have to wait to actually use it.
Have to wait to check it out before giving my opinon. It looks neat, but why change something that's not broken, and everyone seems to love and enjoy.
I agree, facebook should look into getting into communities such as this, and getting user opinions on how they could make FB better.
I think something like myspace(allowing to edit you page freely) would be great, and I def know people would flock to facebook ahaha.

i don't mind as long as its not hard to use lol.

I have this on my account and I really hate it. It is hard to use. When you want to go to another bookmarked application you always have to go back home to get there and you don't have the edit application button like on the old design.
