The Facebook Forum was created on March 25, 2009, by an Argentinian boy named Ignacio LaurĂa. The forum started off on a semi-fast note, getting 18 topics and 52 messages in 6 days. The Listener (Ignacio Lauria) hired Santi as his co-administrator. The Listener seemed to be doing a good job of getting members. In less than a week, 31 new users had registered. However, over the span of the next 61 days, only ten posts were made each day. In those two months, only 115 topics were made. Yet, the amount of users was still increasing. 120 new members joined in April alone, but that number went down to only 86 in May. The Listener had to find a way too keep his forum active, so he went to ForuMotion, the site that powers this forum.
The Listener requested help, and his request was fulfilled. KingOfSports (now known as Lightning Yoshi) joined Facebook Forum and was quickly introduced as the newest member of the staff. He only stayed in his Global Moderator position for a couple days. He had brought so many ideas to the table, The Listener could not keep up. In an attempt to change the forum, Santi was demoted and KingOfSports, who had only been part of the forum for about a week became an Administrator. His first job was the add a Mood profile (which has now been updated). In the same month that KingOfSports registered (June 09), topics, posts, and registered users all increased. There were 274 new topics, 920 new posts, and 179 new registered users. Each one of those stats was the highest at that time. The 179 registered users is the second most users signed up in a single month to this day. The Listener had found what he needed to help the site move forward.
Not only could KingOfSports bring up so many ideas to help and promote the forum, he could post like crazy. In only July, there were 533 new topics and and 3493 new posts! The 533 topics is still a record and the 3493 posts were just passed in December 2009 when Facebook Forum achieved 3495! July 2009 accounts for 22% of Facebook Forum's posts and 23% of the topics.
In order to keep up with the quickly growing Facebook Forum, staff changes had to be made. July brought in the amazing graphic designer, Larah, who went to work, creating banners, sigs, avatars, userbars, and even topic icons. Santi, Melinda, and Shoa all had to leave the staff, opening new spots for Larah, Wanda, PiTU, carranzabruno, flassherah :$, zooropa42, and JoselynD. Larah was bumped to Support Moderator. Nach joined the Staff then.
In August, posts and topics went down considerably, but users still registered, 163 total. Not much happened in August. People were finishing vacations and getting ready for school, but The Listener wanted more. He hired Violence7 as the first hired Super Moderator is Facebook Forum history. Hoping Violence7 would be like KingOfSports, The Listener was prepared. However, after a couple months, Violence7 departed.
The Listener and KingOfSports knew they would need some power to be active while school had started in many places. They started with hiring iBradley, the second Graphic Designer. But, not everyone could keep up with school and Facebook Forum. Zooropa42 and Wanda were let go. -Manuerero and RMaria quickly took their spots ready for action. 6 days later, -Manuerero became a Moderator. 12 days after that, Jj S. took the spot of RMaria.
In September, the forum had a complete makeover. It changed from phpBB2 to phpBB3, renewed its staff, changed all its layout and pictures and gained lots of activity. This was one of the reasons that made the forum what it is today: a succesful and active community for Facebook users.
KingOfSports had a genious idea. A Facebook Support section. This quickly became one of the most active sections of the whole forum. But they soon realized they would not be able to help every single member, which triggered the hiring of funnytim, a Facebook Expert. Larah was then promoted to Super Moderator. On December 3, -> Cinemascope <- lost his job. KingOfSports didn't stop then. He created 5 possible HTML pages. He then realized he would need help with the more difficult codes. He recruited Hatton7 and CyberChoas (who is now CodeHunter).
December was one of the best months ever for Facebook Forum. There were 410 topics and 3495 posts, a new record. There was also a record for registered users. 222 joined in December 2009. However, we always expect the forum to keep growing and growing.
Now in January of 2010, and getting close to its 1 year anniversary, The Listener and KingOfSports look to keep Facebook Forum strong. Nach unfortunately had to leave the staff. Larah was demoted back to Moderator and Jj S. went to Super Moderator. ruby1 joined the Team as Moderator.
January quickly became the best month ever. The forum got 800 new members in just 30 days, and around 4,000 posts. Every month keeps getting better and better.
The next 5 months saw the Forum continue to grow, along with more staff changes. Larah & CodeHunter unfortunately had to leave the staff in February after a service well done. StevenF50 joined the staff a week after CodeHunter had departed. The spanish moderator position saw a swap on April 3rd as JoselynD sadly had to leave the staff, and was replaced by Orlando Arroyo. The next month would see another change as StevenF50 quit, and after a successful 46-day stint Orlando Arroyo had to leave due to personal and study reasons. Carranzabruno re-joined the staff, taking Orlando Arroyo's previously occupied spot.
Just under two weeks later, funnytim & JayJay swapped positions, with their new positions being the Global Moderator and Facebook Moderator, respectively. Five days later, however, JayJay was moved back up to the Global Moderator position alongside funnytim. Carranzabruno had to leave the staff in the later part of June and was replaced by Nach, who is seeing his second stint in the staff position at the forum. During this time keemyasay also saw some brief action in the staff department of the forum, as a moderator.
On July 18, perhaps one of the bigger staff changes occured as iFacebook stepped down as the #2 administrator. Just a few hours later, Tim was appointed to fill the position. Two days later the staff roster continued to be shuffled as Ruby was moved to the Global Moderator position, and keemyasay was released.
That is where we stand today. The Facebook Forum would like to thank everyone who has contributed and helped us grow to where we are today.
